about the pro

John began teaching tennis in 1974 as the general manager, head pro of a chain of swim & tennis schools in the Bay Area of Northern California.  Prior to that he was an English teacher, corrections counselor, army officer, personnel psychologist. 

He is a two-time winner of the USPTA members' national seminar contest for creative tennis teaching (Florida, Hawaii), has a masters in psychology, and has published numerous audio albums on positive thinking in sports.

 

He retired from full-time tennis after 25 years of running clubs and teaching lessons in California and Arizona, took a year off to travel, and returned to his hometown of Baltimore in 2001 where he opened Affordable Sports (affordable lessons in tennis, lacrosse and golf).  All America lacrosse, six handicap in golf.
